Members of the 167th Airlift Wing of the West Virginia Air National Guard may be known for their military work across West Virginia and the nation, but they’re also giving back as mentors for elementary school students in Berkeley County. On April 8 a training session at the 167th Airlift Wing of the West Virginia Air National Guard base was held for 12 members who will be participating in Education Elevators.

This partnership allows for additional training and resources so the 167th Airmen can serve more children in Berkeley County schools. Bunker Hill Elementary and Tuscarora Elementary are participating schools in this program. During the training, members were recognized for their services in honor of National Volunteer Week where they were thanked for service to the community and students.
